Court of Honor -
Tradition, Honor, Support

Courts of Honor are above all a time of fellowship and gathering of Scouts and families who might not had
much time to visit with one another.  That is one of the reasons we share treats and refreshments.

Courts of Honor are a time for us to witness and appreciate the skills of our older Scouts as they lead the
festivities. Younger Scouts watch and learn skills for the time when it will be their turn to stand and lead.

Courts of Honor collectively celebrate the achievements of the Troop as a whole, not just individuals.

Courts of Honor serve to inspiring Scouts to achieve more through the recognition of their fellows.  Whether he
has an achievement to celebrate or not, every scout should attend and stand together with his fellow scouts to
recognize all of their achievements. A key element of the Scout law is "Loyalty". There is no “me” in Scouting.
TROOP 970 EAGLES WIN HONORS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Three of our six Eagle Scouts in graduating in 2007
continue to bring honor to the troop by their extensive
accomplishments:
* Francis G. has earned the Troop’s first ever Double Silver
Eagle Palm—30 merit badges over the 21 required for
Eagle. Francis will attend Rochester Institute of Technology.
* Andrew C. earned a Silver/Bronze Eagle Palm—20 merit
badges over 21 required.  Andrew has won several
community service and Scouting scholarships—a National
Eagle Scout Association Merit Scholarship, one of only 200
in the nation, and the first time a Troop 970 Scout has ever
won a NESA scholarship, Sterling Rotary Service
Scholarship, and Loudoun Volunteer Services Scholarship.
Andrew C will attend Drexel University.
* Scott Y. earned a Silver/Bronze Eagle Palm—20 merit
badges over 21 required. Scott was selected as the
Outstanding Eagle Scout in the state of Virginia by the
Veterans of Foreign Wars organization, one of 50 state
winners, and was chosen for the Dr Juergen Reinhardt
Memorial Scouting Scholarship, given annually to a
graduating Loudoun County senior for outstanding service
and achievements as a Boy Scout or Girl Scout.  Scott will
attend Virginia Tech.
